Overview
We’re looking for someone with a warm heart, clear boundaries, and an unwavering belief that every young person can succeed.
This role is about far more than improving attendance – it’s about building trust, restoring confidence and helping learners reconnect with school.
Responsibilities
- Develop positive, professional relationships with learners and their families, earning their trust through honesty, consistency and compassion while maintaining high expectations and clear boundaries.
- Lead the Attendance Support Unit, providing a safe, structured and nurturing environment where learners can overcome barriers, develop resilience and successfully reintegrate into mainstream education.
- Offer a range of bespoke interventions to meet individual needs, including working alongside therapy dogs – applicants must be comfortable around dogs.
- Coordinate and support learning programmes with curriculum leaders and classroom teachers, enabling students to achieve their potential during periods of reintegration.
- Adapt, plan and, where appropriate, deliver bespoke learning activities and lessons on an individual or small‑group basis to keep learners engaged with the curriculum and prepared for a successful return to mainstream classes.
Qualifications
- A resilient, patient, and highly organised individual.
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
- Experience or familiarity with safeguarding, attendance, wellbeing and ALN support is desirable.
