We’re expanding our team of finance specialists and looking to bring on an experienced Freelance Senior Bookkeeper to support clients based in and around Lambeth and across South London — including SW, SE, and W1 postcode areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled finance professional who enjoys variety, values flexibility, and is motivated by making a real difference in the businesses they support.
About You
You are an experienced Bookkeeper with hands-on experience supporting growing SMEs. You take pride in delivering high-quality work, building trusted relationships, and helping business owners better understand their financial performance. Ideally, you are already self-employed with at least 2 days of availability per week, and you’re comfortable working onsite with clients in South London.
About the Role
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you’ll provide tailored, hands-on financial support to a portfolio of ambitious SMEs. You’ll help streamline financial processes, ensure accuracy across ledgers, and deliver insightful reporting that supports confident, data-driven decision-making. You’ll work closely with business owners and management teams to maintain sound financial records, ensure compliance, and provide valuable day-to-day finance support that enables growth and stability.
Your Expertise Should Include
- Customer invoicing and sales ledger management
- Credit control and debtor reporting to directors
- Supplier invoices and purchase ledger management
- Drafting payment runs for approval
- Supplier reconciliations
- Bank postings and reconciliations
- Expense and credit card management and reconciliation
- VAT returns
- Payroll (and pension administration) – desirable
- Month-end journals including depreciation, accruals, and prepayments
- Experience with Xero (QuickBooks and Sage 50 experience is a plus)
