We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Bookkeeper to support an established wholesale business based in Blackburn. This is a self‑employed position offering flexibility across the week, with increased commitment required at the end of each quarter. You will work closely with and report directly to the Financial Controller, providing hands‑on bookkeeping support and ensuring accurate and timely financial processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for day‑to‑day bookkeeping activities
- Managing purchase and sales ledgers
- Bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
- Assisting with month‑end and quarter‑end processes
- Supporting preparation of management accounts
- VAT returns and compliance
- Foreign exchange (FX) processing and reconciliation
- Maintaining accurate financial records within a bespoke accounting system
- Supporting the Financial Controller with ad‑hoc financial reporting and analysis
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Senior Bookkeeper
- Strong understanding of foreign exchange transactions and multi‑currency accounting
- Confident supporting senior finance professionals
- Experience working across multiple accounting systems
- Strong Excel skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong communication skills
Working Arrangement
- 3 days per week (flexible split across 4 days if preferred)
- 4 full days required at each quarter end
- On‑site role
- Self‑employed engagement
- ÂŁ22.50 per hour
