YouView creates software for set-top boxes, streaming pucks, and smart TVs to deliver a TV experience users love. YouView’s TV experience is powered by our reliable, resilient, and secure cloud backend, and our unique firmware allows us to control media playback, security and lower-level components. Our platform delivers variety and convenience by combining on-demand with live TV through an integrated editorial lens, so our users get the best rich, relevant TV content across both free and pay services.
YouView has proudly collaborated with Everyone TV to introduce Freely, a ground-breaking streaming service that is set to revolutionise free TV in the UK. Launched in April 2024, Freely offers users a seamless experience by providing a single access point to stream live and on-demand content from all major UK broadcasters, eliminating the hassle of app-switching.
The Role
Often the “first port of call” for YouView employees within the People & Culture team, this role is focused on providing a high quality and positive employee experience. You will be essential to the planning and execution of operational HR duties. Attention to detail and the enthusiasm to drive continuous improvement are essential attributes, together with a diplomatic manner and confidential approach.
- Engagement & Communication
- Handling day to day enquiries from staff or third parties and providing relevant information, responding accurately, professionally and in a timely manner
- Draft and distribute employee communications (particularly those in relation to reward and benefits) using a variety of channels.
- Contribute to the drafting and updating of HR policies ensuring they are accessible for all
- Design and run new joiner process, including contracts, inductions and Peakon 101 sessions
- Lead our wellbeing initiatives
- Employee Lifecycle
- Manage the administration of the recruitment process (with opportunity to build upon this skillset if desired)
- Draft contracts, offer letters, amendments and other confidential and legally compliant documents
- Coordinate onboarding activities including right to work checks, references and new starter and leaver administration
- Manage absence tracking, probation reviews
- Support disciplinary, grievances and exit processes, including responsibility for exit interviews
- Reward & Benefits
- Execute the monthly (UK only) payroll, with support initially from the People team Lead
- Run the benefit administration process end to end.
- Resolve payroll queries from staff, acting as a point of liaison between YouView and our payroll providers.
- Support the People team lead to plan & execute annual processes such as pay reviews, benefit renewals, performance reviews, benchmarking.
- HR Infrastructure & Systems
- Accountable for the accuracy of all employee data and documentation in our HRIS (HiBob) and in line with GDPR
- Become an administrative superuser of all our software (Reward Gateway, Peakon, Learnerbly, HiBob), actively implementing new features when available
- Proactively identify and execute enhancements to our systems to improve the employee experience and ease of use in the backend.
- Ensure operational processes are mapped, documented, and communicated with the wider People team, including template documents and forms
- Provide data and reporting upon request
This role will also require generalist knowledge of all aspects of HR and will need to pick up any other ad hoc duties and contribute to the overall team effort.

- Experience running payroll from beginning to end
