YouthAction NI is seeking a Youth Worker for its CyberQuest project. CyberQuest is a regional cross‑border, cross‑community initiative to build essential IT & digital skills and produce industry‑ready young people through youth work.
Location: Armagh or Newry.
Contract: Full Time. Hours: 37.5.
About the role: CyberQuest will engage with 250 young people in projects that explore complex social issues and develop skills for social action. Activities include developmental youth work, accredited training (ICDL and ILM digital skills programmes), and inter‑group projects such as the Hunger for Peace Game.
Key Responsibilities:- Recruitment: recruit young people through proactive methods, identify barriers to participation, and create personal learning & action plans.
- Planning: involve young people as co‑designers, make practical arrangements within budget, coordinate activities with community partners, and liaise with other partners for cross‑community engagement.
- Delivery: provide a menu of options, facilitate peace and resilience workshops, support digital skills training, nurture ideas for social action, and assist young people in accessing virtual and physical hubs.
- Record keeping: maintain consent forms, session plans and recordings, evaluate and provide progress reports, and support communications via social media.
- Review: carry out financial, monitoring and administrative duties, embed reflective practice, and pursue continuous professional development as agreed with the line manager.
- General duties: promote the PEACEPLUS Regional programme, manage project promotion, maintain administrative systems, work within budgets, develop resources for peace‑building through IT, attend meetings, and uphold YouthAction policies, child protection procedures and the youth work charter.
- JNC/NSETS comfortably qualified with a degree in Community Youth Work; or
- Youth work qualified to Level 4 (Certificate in Community Youth Studies) with at least one year of experience; or
- Honours degree in a related field (health, social policy, social work, education) with at least one year of experience. Additionally: full driving licence and access to a car.
