We’re working with a growing business that’s looking to welcome a Finance Assistant (Purchase Ledger) into their friendly and collaborative finance team. This is a part-time opportunity (approx. 28–32 hours per week) with flexibility around days worked. While normal full-time hours are 9:00–5:30 (with a 30-minute lunch), the team is happy to accommodate different working patterns — with the understanding that some flexibility is required around month end.
The Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end purchase ledger function, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and being part of a supportive finance environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing high-volume supplier invoices, matching purchase orders to jobs on the MIS system
- Managing daily export/import controls and flagging exceptions
- Processing overhead invoices
- Resolving invoice queries and disputes
- Preparing weekly payment runs and early settlement runs, issuing remittance advices
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Processing staff expenses in Sage Intacct
- Posting and reconciling company credit card transactions
- Supporting month-end purchase ledger accrual analysis
- Assisting with annual audits
- General finance and administrative support as required
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a great team fit — someone approachable, organised, and confident communicating with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Purchase Ledger / Finance Assistant role
- Confidence using Excel (intermediate level)
- Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar accounting system
- Exposure to an in-house management information system
- A proactive, can-do attitude and strong organisational skills
- Basic knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping (AAT desirable)
Salary & Benefits:
- £33,000 FTE (pro rata for part-time hours)
- 25 days holiday pro rata
- Pension scheme
- Free fruit
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Free on-site parking
- Birthday day off (after 1 year’s service)
- Hybrid working available after 6-month probation (with flexibility for strong performers)
Why Apply?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business that genuinely values flexibility, teamwork, and ownership. You’ll have autonomy in your role, the support of an experienced Finance Manager, and the chance to be part of a positive, people-focused culture.
