We are recruiting for an experienced Security Engineer to join the Engineering team of an established technology business, supporting both internal and customer networks.

This is a hands-on cybersecurity role where you will take ownership of network and device security, investigate and resolve security incidents, identify vulnerabilities and help ensure security policies and standards are embedded across the business.

Location: Redhill Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday 9:00 – 5:30 Contract: Permanent

The Role…

You will work closely with IT, Engineering, Enterprise and Security teams, acting as a key point of contact for complex cybersecurity issues and providing technical expertise across a range of internal and customer environments.

  • Designing, implementing, testing and troubleshooting security solutions.
  • Monitoring security tools and investigating security events and incidents.
  • Supporting and maintaining SIEM, IDS/IPS and vulnerability management solutions.
  • Carrying out and supporting penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
  • Providing third-line support for network security issues.
  • Developing and maintaining security policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
  • Producing accurate technical documentation, configuration records, schematics and support guides.
  • Advising colleagues and customers on cybersecurity risks, threats and best practice.
  • Working alongside IT and Engineering teams to ensure networks and devices remain secure.
  • Supporting incident management and driving security issues through to resolution.
  • Keeping technical knowledge up to date and sharing expertise across the wider team.
  • Providing security advice on the design and management of internal and customer networks.

About You…

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on network security experience and a solid understanding of cybersecurity within complex technical environments.

You will ideally have

  • At least 5 years’ experience working across multiple networks, including designing and managing secure network environments.
  • Strong experience with Cisco firewalls, routers and switches.
  • Experience with Juniper platforms.
  • Good working knowledge of SIEM, IDS/IPS and vulnerability management tools.
  • Experience with penetration testing and computer forensic tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 and GDPR.
  • Experience developing and maintaining security policies, procedures and standards.
  • The ability to investigate complex security issues and provide practical technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical security issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience dealing directly with customers.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage work through to completion.
  • The ability to obtain SC Security Clearance.

A background in telecommunications, satellite communications or maritime communications would be highly desirable, as would experience working with UK MOD or Government networks.

Security & Screening…

Due to the sensitive nature of the industry and the systems and customers this role supports, full background screening will be carried out as part of the recruitment process.

A DBS check will also be required.

Candidates must also hold, or be able to successfully obtain, SC Security Clearance.
