Location: Redhill & South Croydon

Salary: up to £52,304 per annum

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:45am - 5:00pm

DBS: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service desirable

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused People Team Manager to join a busy and collaborative organisation across their Redhill and South Croydon sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished HR professional who enjoys balancing strategic influence with operational delivery and is passionate about creating positive employee experiences.

Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you will lead a team of HR professionals, providing expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle whilst driving continuous improvement, workforce planning and organisational effectiveness.

The Role

As People Team Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering people strategies that support organisational objectives. You will lead on complex employee relations matters, workforce planning, organisational change and people management initiatives whilst ensuring HR best practice and employment law compliance are consistently applied.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of HR professionals to deliver a high-quality people service.
  • Partnering with managers and senior leaders to develop and implement workforce and staffing strategies.
  • Providing expert advice on employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management and performance issues.
  • Managing and overseeing complex and sensitive casework.
  • Supporting and leading organisational change programmes, restructures and consultation processes.
  • Driving attendance management and wellbeing initiatives across designated areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring workforce trends and people data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Managing contracts of employment and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Working collaboratively with Payroll, Recruitment, Learning & Development and external legal advisors to ensure a seamless employee experience.
  • Acting as the strategic and operational HR lead for designated business areas.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced HR professional with a strong background in employee relations, people management and business partnering. You will be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, handling complex situations and leading teams through change.

You will have:

  • CIPD qualification (ideally Level 7 / MCIPD).
  • Significant experience in a senior HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or People Manager position.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing HR teams, including performance reviews, coaching and development.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, restructures and consultation processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience within an FE College, education setting or similar environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
