Role Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day management of a children's residential home in Derby.

The Deputy Manager will play an important role in ensuring the home provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children and young people are protected, safeguarded and supported to achieve positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to the staff team, support the Registered Manager with operational responsibilities and help maintain high standards of care, compliance and safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in achieving and maintaining an Ofsted rating of Good or Outstanding.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of the home's operations, using relevant inspection frameworks, monitoring systems and internal audits.
  • Support the Registered Manager with the operational management of the home.
  • Provide supervision, support, guidance and direction to staff.
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, optimism, compassion, resilience and determination.
  • Ensure appropriate and effective staffing levels are maintained in line with the home's Statement of Purpose and individual children's risk management plans.
  • Support the effective allocation of staff duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted at all times.
  • Support the implementation and review of children's care, education and risk management plans.
  • Promote a positive, child-centred environment that supports the development and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, safeguarding requirements and local authority procedures.
  • Support the monitoring and improvement of staff and service performance.
  • Assist with managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Deal with conflict and challenging situations in a professional and appropriate manner. xgikmsk
