Children's Residential Care - South London

Salary: Up to Β£40,000 and progression support

The role involves recruiting for a Deputy Manager opportunity within a well-established children's residential provider operating both Children's Homes and Supported Accommodation across South London. This role would suit an experienced Senior Support Worker or Team Leader who is already acting up, supervising staff, supporting rotas, and working closely with a Registered Manager and is now ready for their next step.

About the organisation: My client has been supporting young people since 1996 and is highly respected within the sector for their values-led approach, strong safeguarding culture, and commitment to developing their teams. This is a stable organisation with experienced leadership and realistic expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day running of the home
  • Act as a role model to Senior and Support Workers
  • Supervise staff and support development plans
  • Assist with rotas, audits, and compliance
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager when required
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and consistency of care

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk-only position.

About you: You will ideally have:

  • Experience working in a children's residential home
  • A current role as Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, or Acting Deputy
  • Confidence supervising staff and managing shifts
  • A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete)
  • A genuine desire to progress into management
  • Experience as a Deputy Manager is welcome but not essential. Step-up candidates with the right attitude and experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

What’s on offer:

  • Clear progression and development support
  • A supportive Registered Manager and leadership team
  • A stable, long-standing provider (not a turnaround home)
  • A role where your contribution is genuinely valued
