HR Generalist

£33,000–£35,000 | Hybrid Working | Permanent | Full-Time

Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys solving people challenges, supporting managers and making a real difference in the workplace?

We’re looking for a confident, proactive HR Generalist to join a busy People team in a varied role offering the opportunity to take ownership of employee relations cases while gaining exposure to the wider HR function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being a trusted point of contact for managers, providing practical HR advice and helping navigate everything from day-to-day people queries to more complex employee relations matters.

What will you be doing?

As HR Generalist, you’ll play a key role in supporting managers and colleagues across the employee lifecycle, with a particular focus on Employee Relations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Employee Relations: Managing formal and informal cases, including sickness absence, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters, through to hearings where required.
  • Manager Support: Providing clear, practical advice on HR policies, procedures, employment legislation and best practice.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Supporting recruitment campaigns and ensuring a positive experience for new starters.
  • Learning & Development: Delivering guidance and training to managers on key people policies and procedures.
  • HR Administration: Supporting payroll and pension administration, maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring HR processes run smoothly.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Producing monthly HR reports, monitoring KPIs and analysing people data to identify trends.
  • Projects & Improvement: Contributing to HR projects, policy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Team Support: Supervising a People & Organisational Development Assistant and deputising for the Head of People & Organisational Development when required.

What are we looking for?

We’re keen to hear from HR professionals who have solid generalist experience and are confident handling employee relations matters independently.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in a generalist HR role, with strong Employee Relations knowledge.
  • The confidence to advise managers on sensitive and sometimes complex people issues.
  • Experience managing ER cases from initial advice through to formal hearings and outcomes.
  • A good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using HR systems, producing reports and analysing people data.
  • The ability to manage your workload autonomously while working collaboratively with the wider team.

A Level 5 CIPD qualification would be advantageous, although equivalent knowledge and practical experience will also be considered.

Experience in a contact centre, call centre or shift-based environment would be beneficial but is not essential.

What’s on offer?

Salary: £33,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Annual leave: 30 days plus bank holidays

  • Excellent learning and development opportunities
  • Enhanced pension and life assurance
  • Volunteering days and additional employee benefits
  • A supportive working environment where your expertise is valued and your development encouraged
  • A DBS check will be required.
