Reading £55,000 – £65,000 plus bonus 37.5 hours with flexible working hours and 1 – 2 days Hybrid.
We are working with a growing children’s residential provider to appoint a Registered Manager for a new home based in Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and confident leader to play a key role in setting up, registering and shaping a home from the ground up, creating a safe, stable and nurturing environment for young people aged 8–16. The home will support young people with emotional and behavioural needs (EBD) and learning disabilities (LD), so we are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, values-led, and passionate about delivering high-quality care.
Tasks
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring it operates in line with Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and achieves strong outcomes for the young people in your care. You will:
- Lead the Ofsted registration process and prepare the home for opening
- Build, develop and inspire a high-performing care team
- Create and embed a strong safeguarding culture
- Oversee care planning to ensure positive, child-centred outcomes
- Manage budgets and resources effectively
- Build strong relationships with families, social workers and external professionals
- Drive continuous improvement and maintain high-quality standards
Requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who can combine strong leadership with hands-on operational experience. You will have:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within children’s residential care
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership
