Location: Redhill (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 from home)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000
The Role: The Employee Relations Partner will act as a trusted advisor to managers across the organisation, supporting a wide range of employee relations matters. This role is responsible for ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally compliant approach to all ER cases, while promoting a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused workplace culture.
The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in employee relations and will support complex case management, including high-risk situations and potential Employment Tribunal cases where required. They will also play a key role in building management capability and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, including trade unions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides expert advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations issues, including conduct, performance, absence, disciplinaries, grievances, and restructuring.
- Manages complex and high-risk ER cases, ensuring compliance with UK employment law and internal policies.
- Supports and leads investigations, hearings, and case outcomes in a professional and timely manner.
- Coaches and develops managers to build confidence and capability in handling ER matters independently.
- Monitors, manages, and maintains accurate records of all ER cases, ensuring appropriate tracking and reporting.
- Analyses ER data, identifies trends, and provides insights and recommendations to reduce risk and improve processes.
- Works closely with trade unions, supporting effective communication and positive working relationships.
- Liaises with occupational health and external legal advisors where required.
- Ensures consistent application and interpretation of company policies and procedures.
- Supports organisational change initiatives, including restructures and organisational design.
- Contributes to continuous improvement projects within the People & Culture function.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in an Employee Relations role, ideally within a unionised environment.
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation.
- Experience managing complex and sensitive ER cases.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- CIPD qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
