The Role:
Are you looking for a new challenge? We are recruiting a Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a children's residential home. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an established Senior Support Worker or Deputy Manager looking to take the next step in their career. You will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where young people can thrive, while supporting and leading a committed staff team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall management and operation of the home.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and line management to Senior and Support Workers.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality care in line with care plans and relevant regulations.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for young people.
- Deliver regular supervision, appraisals, and on-the-job support to staff.
- Support staff training, induction, and development plans.
- Assist with rota management to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Monitor staff performance and promote best practice.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with Health & Safety, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and external agencies when required.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about residential childcare and confident in leading by example. You will ideally have:
- Experience working in a children's residential home.
- Experience of Ofsted inspection.
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker ready to progress.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of children's residential regulations.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading staff.
- A calm, resilient, and child-centred approach.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) β essential.
- Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or willingness to work towards) β desirable.
