We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven business development manager to expand enterprise merchant acquisition across the UK. This role will focus on enterprise-level merchants operating within high-risk and specialist sectors, targeting businesses with annual card turnover exceeding £12 million. You will play a key role in driving revenue growth, building strategic relationships, and closing complex deals with merchants across sectors including gaming, travel, CBD, adult, nutraceuticals, and other challenging verticals.

This is a hands-on sales role requiring a proactive approach to outbound business development, including cold calling, prospecting, and pipeline generation. The successful individual will be expected to identify and engage senior stakeholders, navigate complex sales cycles, and consistently close high-value opportunities.

Key responsibilities:
  • Hit and exceed ambitious sales targets.
  • Prospect and cold call enterprise merchants to generate new business opportunities.
  • Target high-risk merchants with annual card turnover exceeding £12 million.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified enterprise opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with clients and banking partners throughout the onboarding process.
  • Develop bespoke payment solutions tailored to complex merchant requirements while ensuring commercial profitability.
  • Pitch, negotiate, and close deals with senior stakeholders and C-Suite decision-makers.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the enterprise payments landscape and high-risk merchant requirements.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support smooth onboarding and long-term client success.
About you:
  • 5+ years’ experience in sales, business development, or account management within payments or fintech.
  • Proven experience selling into high-risk industries such as gaming, travel, CBD, adult, nutraceuticals, or similar sectors is essential.
  • Demonstrated success targeting and winning enterprise-level merchants with high annual card turnover.
  • Strong background in outbound sales, cold calling, and self-generated pipeline creation.
  • Experience managing complex and consultative sales cycles.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial drive and resilience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable engaging and influencing senior decision-makers and C-Suite stakeholders.
  • Motivated by high earning potential with double OTE achievable for top performers.
