Description of role: We are looking to recruit a full-time and permanent Environment, Health & Safety Assistant based onsite at our Manchester HQ located at Manchester Science Park. The EHS Assistant will report to our Facilities & EHS Manager and will assist in ensuring compliance with statutory legislation, health & safety, Health Technical Memoranda (HTM’s), Codes of Practice etc. Contribute to and support the maintenance of systems for collation, interpretation and analysis of the company’s green agenda and sustainability goals. Meeting internal and external reporting requirements and deadlines. Carry out site-based audits to assess performance in line with procedures, identifying corrective actions. Assist and advise best practices and review Risk Assessments to ensure compliance.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Assist with the duties placed on employees by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all statutory duties appertaining to their work and processes.
  • Maintain communication lines to all employees as the first point of contact for Health and Safety related issues.
  • Assist with organising training and inductions for new starters.
  • Take responsibility for the monitoring of the H&S reporting tools and systems.
  • Attend H&S committee meetings.
  • Attend Green Team meetings.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in an administrative role, ideally within an EHS, quality, or compliance-related field.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A good understanding of basic EHS principles and regulations.
  • Be willing to attend training courses to gain qualifications such as IOSH.
