The role:
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilised and organised
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies during procedures
- Maintain a count of all surgical instruments and supplies to prevent discrepancies
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist as required
- Follow strict aseptic techniques to minimise the risk of infection
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient surgical environment
- Assist with patient positioning and draping
- Document and maintain accurate records of surgical procedures
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in surgical nursing and sterilisation procedures
