Respiratory Physiologist

As a Respiratory Physiologist, you will deliver high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients with respiratory and sleep-related conditions. Working in a busy NHS setting, you’ll carry out a range of tests, support treatment pathways, and ensure clinical accuracy in both results and reporting.

Location: South Wales

Job Type: Temporary / Part-Time

Working Pattern: 3–4 days per week

Sector: NHS – Clinical Physiology

Compliance: Full documentation and right to work in the UK required

Qualifications: ARTP Part 1 & 2; BSE in Clinical Physiology or equivalent

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostic Testing

  • Perform lung function tests (spirometry, gas transfer, lung volumes)
  • Conduct broncho-provocation, ABG/CBG sampling, and 6-minute walk tests

2. Sleep Services

  • Carry out sleep studies and CPAP setup
  • Monitor and adjust therapy based on clinical and technical reviews

3. Reporting & Communication

  • Interpret results and provide clear clinical reports
  • Communicate findings effectively with clinical teams and patients

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records in line with NHS standards
  • Calibrate and maintain equipment; follow departmental protocols

5. Team Support

  • Participate in service development and training of junior staff
  • Provide flexible support across the team as required

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • NHS experience in respiratory diagnostics and sleep studies
  • Strong technical ability and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and clinical interpretation skills

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with NHS systems and reporting tools
  • Additional training in advanced diagnostics or sleep medicine
