The Deputy Finance Manager will provide high-quality financial information, support, and advice to clinical, non-clinical, and operational leads in any division. Your responsibilities will include assisting Finance Business Partners delivering financial statements, annual budgets, and the development of financial strategies.
You will produce and present high-quality monthly management information and work alongside the Finance Business Partner to lead a division's financial performance management process, including accurate monthly forecasting of the service division's outturn. You will assist with developmental and transformation projects within the service divisions and contribute to the strategic and business planning processes.
As an effective communicator, you will further develop excellent working relationships with clinicians and managers. You will enjoy playing a highly visible role within the finance department and the service divisions that you support.
Location: Suffolk (hybrid 3 days from the office)
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: £53 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay (via direct engagement)
Hours: 5 hours per week / Monday to Friday
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Financial Management
- Proven financial management skills
- Knowledge of financial processes
- Experience of budget management in a highly complex environment
- Advanced computer skills, especially in relation to modelling (spreadsheets), reporting and use of accounting systems
- Prepare and present financial information
- Evidence of assisting financial planning and delivery
- Excellent IT skills, including data production and analysis
- Contextualise business reporting through an understanding of both financial and non-financial KPIs
- Responsible for the collection, review and processing of monthly management accounting information and presentation of all key aspects of this data (including revenue and CIP performance) in the appropriate form for the relevant internal and external governance bodies
- To advise the Finance and Performance manager on the availability of resources to discharge the Trust’s financial management responsibilities
- In the process of financial performance management of the Trust, reporting actual performance against the plan and where performance differs significantly to influence operational managers/clinicians in taking corrective action
- To lead in the formulation of the financial aspect of the divisional business cases in accordance with the Trust’s strategic aims and objectives (as directed by the Finance and Performance Manager)
- To make the Finance and Performance Manager aware of the risks and benefits of business cases
- To advise & recommend options on financial and non-financial aspects of the business plans, including assessment of financial risk and advice regarding the allocation of financial resources
- To act in an entrepreneurial and innovative manner, ensuring that all financial opportunities and strategic threats (often including highly complex cross divisional issues) are identified, investigated and acted upon to deliver a balanced financial position for the division
- To ensure that the measurement and financial reporting of progress towards the Trust cost improvement programme is robust and auditable
- To support and input into the production and timely completion of the year end accounting cycle
- To ensure that appropriate analytical review analysis is completed to support the accounts
- To continually improve and develop the provision of quality information and financial expertise for the divisions
- To deputise for the Finance and Performance manager for the relevant Clinical Division
- To ensure that robust financial forecasting is undertaken in a professional manner which provides effective early warning of potential future problems which enable financial risks to be effectively managed
