Your Teaching is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in West London that is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and making a positive impact on their educational journey. The role involves working closely with students who may have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, and other learning barriers. The school has a strong commitment to inclusion and provides a nurturing environment where both students and staff are supported to succeed.
The Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN
- Help students access the curriculum and engage in learning activities
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support students' emotional wellbeing, confidence, and independence
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and classroom activities
- Deliver targeted interventions and tailored support programmes
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and pastoral teams to support student progress
Requirements
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs (preferred but not essential)
- The ability to remain calm, adaptable, and proactive in a school environment
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
- Eligibility to work in the UK
