A well-established secondary school in London is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead its thriving department. The successful candidate will be a specialist in either French or Spanish, with a strong track record of high-quality teaching and leadership.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

1. Lead and manage the MFL department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
2. Teach either French or Spanish across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
3. Oversee curriculum planning, assessments, and student progress.
4. Support and mentor MFL teachers, driving professional development.
5. Foster a culture of high expectations and student achievement.
6. Lead extracurricular activities such as language clubs, international trips, and cultural events.
7. Work closely with senior leadership to enhance language learning across the school.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

1. Be a qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with a specialism in either French or Spanish.
2. Have experience teaching their language up to A-Level.
3. Have previous experience in a leadership or management role (e.g., Second in Department, Head of Key Stage, or Lead Teacher).
4. Be confident in curriculum design, assessment, and data analysis to improve student outcomes.
5. Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to support a team.
6. Be committed to promoting language learning and cultural awareness.
