Your Teaching Ltd are seeking an empathetic, dynamic, and experienced Family Liaison Officer to join a dedicated team at a special needs school. As a Family Liaison Officer, you will play a vital role in fostering strong relationships between the school and the families of students with special educational needs. You will provide support, guidance, and practical assistance to ensure that families are well-informed, supported, and able to actively engage with their child’s education. Key Responsibilities: * Build and maintain positive relationships with students' families, acting as the primary point of contact for support and advice. * Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress, school events, and any concerns. * Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to ensure holistic support for students. * Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with families. * Organize and facilitate regular family meetings and workshops. * Provide emotional support and signposting to external agencies or services when necessary. * Work collaboratively with social workers, healthcare professionals, and other agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students and families. * Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment within the school for families of all backgrounds. Key Skills & Qualifications: * Experience in a family liaison or support role, ideally within an educational setting (special needs experience preferred). * A deep understanding of the challenges faced by families with children who have special educational needs. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to empathize with families and support them in a non-judgmental, professional manner. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously. * Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students and families. * A relevant qualification in social care, education, or a related field is desirable.
