About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work alongside a Tutor, providing one-to-one support to a child in the South East London area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a young person's educational journey. The successful candidate will support the Tutor in delivering personalised learning activities, helping the child remain engaged, motivated, and confident throughout their learning sessions. Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a child during tutoring sessions.
- Work collaboratively with the Tutor to deliver personalised learning activities.
- Encourage participation, engagement, and positive learning behaviours.
- Support the child's emotional wellbeing and confidence development.
- Adapt support strategies to meet the child's individual needs and learning style.
- Assist with organisation, focus, and task completion during sessions.
- Record observations and provide feedback on progress and engagement.
- Help create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Promote independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, childcare, youth work, mentoring, or support setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, professional, and adaptable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, anxiety, or school avoidance.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or a related field.
- Knowledge of behaviour support and positive intervention strategies.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
