JOB DESCRIPTION – experience is essential
Main role and responsibilities
Operates metal saw to cut material to customer requirements by performing the following duties.
Main duties/ Key Performance Indicators
- Operating a billet / saw machine
- Checks the material allocated to be cut, length, width, thickness, spec, alloy, grain direction, lot number before cutting.
- Checks to cut plan, and any additional drawings to agree with advised sizes on sale order before cutting.
- Cuts and verifies parts are within customer required tolerances, using tape, micrometer, and caliper instruments.
- Program saw for cutting operation.
- Checks to first off cut piece, and random checks during the sale order, Belfast specific 100 %-dimension checks on all parts for C/29 (Bombardier)
- Marks each part with hard stamp, grain flow, USD, lot number
- Label each part with any required SP requirements.
- Performs daily maintenance checks to metal saw.
- Weighs all cut pieces and rems.
- Ensure all cut material is on a fit for purpose pallet or skids for safe packaging.
- Operates fork trucks and jib cranes when required.
- Performs daily safety checks to fork trucks and jib cranes, and vac-lifts.
- Maintain Quality standards throughout the operational process and assist and develop process improvements to the business forward.
- Manual lifting up to 20kgs.
- Ensure productivity sheets are completed each day.
- All PPE must be worn, no exception.
- Performs daily housekeeping including the surrounding work area and metal saw.
- Empties the swarf skip when required and any waste bins at the end of the shift.
- Ensures all rems have the relevant information on the rem sticker, and on the rem itself.
- Performs stock take duties when required.
- Health Safety and Environment
- Ensure you have read the Company’s health and safety policies and procedures and always observe them.
- Report any accidents or near misses immediately to your manager and record them in the accident book.
- Ensure your workplace is kept tidy and any hazards are eliminated or reported to your line manager.
- Always wear appropriate protective clothing whilst on site
- Attends all health and safety training as required by the Company.
