Are you experienced in catering and looking for a permanent role with sociable daytime hours? We’re recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join a busy workplace catering team in Loughborough. This is a hands-on position where you’ll support with food preparation, cooking, service and maintaining high standards across the kitchen. With no evening or weekend working, this could be a great opportunity for someone from a catering, café, restaurant or kitchen background looking for a better work-life balance.
What will you be doing?
- Preparing, cooking and presenting food to a high standard
- Following daily menus, recipes and portion control guidelines
- Preparing breakfasts, lunches, snacks, salads and hot dishes
- Supporting food service during busy periods
- Monitoring food quality, freshness and presentation
- Following food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
- Keeping kitchen and food preparation areas clean and organised
- Working closely with the wider catering team to ensure a smooth service
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience working within a kitchen, catering or food-service environment
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification preferred
- An NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery would be advantageous
- Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety and allergen awareness
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to food quality
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Confidence working in a busy catering environment
