Ready to build new business rather than simply manage an existing inbox? We’re recruiting a Business Development Executive to join a growing specialist manufacturer supplying high purity chemicals to customers across Europe and potentially further afield. This is a genuine new business role for someone who enjoys researching potential customers, starting conversations and turning cold prospects into long term commercial relationships. You’ll take ownership of your own pipeline, identify new opportunities and develop relationships with customers across a range of specialist and technical industries. You do not need previous chemicals experience. What matters most is that you have experience generating new business, are confident approaching prospective customers and are comfortable taking ownership of your own sales activity.

What’s on offer?

  • £45,000 to £50,000 salary depending on experience
  • 15% annual bonus and annual salary reviews
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Healthcare benefits and mental health support
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and death in service benefits
  • LinkedIn Learning and support with relevant qualifications
  • Free onsite parking and electric vehicle charging points
  • Opportunity to develop an international territory and influence future commercial growth

What will you be doing?

  • Researching potential customers, markets and applications
  • Generating new business through outbound calls, email and online outreach
  • Speaking with decision makers across European and international markets
  • Qualifying prospects and understanding their commercial and technical requirements
  • Developing new accounts and building long term customer relationships
  • Managing enquiries, quotations, sample requests and pricing discussions
  • Identifying cross selling and upselling opportunities
  • Maintaining an accurate CRM and managing your own sales pipeline
  • Sharing market intelligence and proactively creating opportunities during quieter periods

What are we looking for?

  • Previous business development, inside sales or B2B sales experience
  • Experience proactively generating new business
  • Confidence making outbound calls and approaching cold prospects
  • A track record of developing leads into commercial opportunities
  • Strong research, communication and commercial skills
  • Confidence discussing pricing, quotations and customer requirements
  • Good CRM and pipeline management skills
  • A proactive, self motivated approach with an interest in learning technical products

Experience within chemicals, manufacturing, engineering or another technical industry would be beneficial, but it is not essential.

What does success look like?

You’ll be someone who actively creates opportunities rather than waiting for leads to land in your inbox. You’ll research the right businesses, understand where there may be a genuine commercial opportunity and approach prospective customers with a relevant reason for starting a conversation. You’ll manage your activity consistently, keep your pipeline accurate and continue identifying opportunities without needing someone to constantly assign your next task.
