A fast-growing SaaS company is building the next generation of scalable, cloud-native solutions to support the financial services sector. Their mission is to enable businesses to operate more efficiently through their automation platform, and they are investing heavily in platform engineering to streamline development and improve the overall engineering experience.

They are looking for a platform engineer who is passionate about developer experience, self-serve tooling, and platform enablement. This is not a traditional DevOps or SRE role; your focus will be on building scalable internal platforms that unblock development teams, reduce cognitive load, and provide a seamless developer experience.

You will play a key role in transitioning the current tech stack and introducing best practices, governance, and reusable infrastructure patterns. You will empower engineers with self-serve capabilities helping them ship faster and more efficiently.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building and enhancing internal developer platforms to simplify onboarding and deployment processes
  • Creating golden paths for common engineering needs, such as AWS database provisioning, security best practices, and infrastructure templates
  • Improving pipelines and automation to remove bottlenecks in the development lifecycle
  • Treating the platform as a product, with internal developers as your customers
  • Defining and implementing standards, governance, and best practices to improve engineering efficiency
  • Supporting the transition from AWS CDK to Terraform
  • Leading the shift from Azure DevOps to GitHub Actions for CI/CD
  • Implementing monitoring solutions such as New Relic to enhance system reliability

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven platform engineering experience, with a track record of unblocking teams, improving developer experience, and building internal tooling
  • Strong AWS and Terraform knowledge, with experience in infrastructure-as-code solutions
  • CI/CD expertise, comfortable with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms
  • A software engineering background, with experience in backend development and the ability to build internal libraries and tooling
  • A mindset for enablement, focusing on efficiency, self-serve, and automation rather than manual operational tasks
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to align platform initiatives with business goals

Bonus skills:

  • Experience with Spotify Backstage or other internal developer portals
  • Background in flow engineering and breaking down monolithic architectures
  • Experience with ECS and containerized applications (Kubernetes is not used in this environment)

Interview process:

  • Intro call; 30-minute discussion to understand your experience and motivations
  • Technical deep dive; problem-solving session focused on cloud or developer experience challenges

This role is a true platform engineering opportunity, focusing on developer empowerment, efficiency, and self-serve automation. If you’re passionate about enabling engineers to do their best work, we’d love to hear from you.
