Working for a Housing Association can be extremely rewarding, and we are lucky to have a hugely collaborative team of operatives, throughout all Trade professions, who work together to ensure that our customers are safe and warm in their homes.

In this role as a Multi Skilled Joiner, you will be responsible for providing an excellent customer focused service in the Manchester region. We are looking for self-motivated problem solvers who take pride in everything they do, with excellent customer service and communication skills. You will be working a 40-hour week Monday – Friday arriving at your first job at 8.00 am and heading home at 4.30 pm, working across the Manchester region. You will also need to be able to attend our Head Office in Birchwood, Warrington for meetings and training courses when needed.

First and foremost, you will be responsible for carrying out routine day to day Joinery and Plumbing repairs to a high standard in our customers’ homes in the Manchester area. One of the great things about this role is the flexibility and the variety; no two days will be the same and you will be making a positive difference to our customers. Along with completing repairs to a high standard, we will also require you to have excellent communication skills and some knowledge of ICT repairs systems and emails ensuring that the Customer receives an excellent repair service.

To be a successful Multi Skilled Joiner, here at YHG, you will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised qualification(s)
  • Experience or further qualification in additional skilled trades would be hugely beneficial.
  • Health and safety knowledge in a repairs environment.
  • A full UK Driving License (ideally no more than 6 points)

Ideally you will be:

  • A team player
  • Friendly
  • A keen problem solver
  • A good communicator both written and verbal
  • Passionate about right first time and delivering a quality service

This role is really suited to someone who likes to take ownership and pride in the work they do, who also enjoys meeting different people every day and ensuring that our customers have the best repairs experience possible.

In return we offer £35,175 for a 40-hour week, and 22 days annual leave, plus 3 discretionary days between Christmas and New Year, plus Bank Holidays. Our employee offering provides much more than just a competitive salary and holiday allowance. On top of this, we’ll provide you with a great benefits package, including a contributory pension where we match whatever you choose to contribute (up to 8%), an advanced level Healthcare cash plan through Medicash, that doesn’t just provide dental and optician cashback but also health and wellbeing benefits (such as 24/7 GP Access, money back from prescriptions and alternative therapy treatments) and an amazing discount scheme that gives you access to half price cinema tickets and a huge range of discounts with some of the biggest high street and online names.
