The safety of our customers is Your Housing Group’s number one priority, and the Building Safety Manager role is integral to the management of safety within our Buildings.

Working within and as part of the wider Asset Team, you will work in close collaborative partnership with the Head of Compliance & Building Safety, to ensure compliance with building safety standards and with colleagues from teams across YHG.

What will my working week look like?

Your role will be a varied blend of regional and home working as you will need to visit the buildings under your care regularly to provide technical support and assurance and you will have the autonomy to manage your own diary accordingly.

What will I be responsible for doing?

You will have responsibility for ensuring Your Housing Group meets or exceeds its quality, regulatory, and legislative requirements under the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act, through effective monitoring and management of the buildings within your allocated remit. This will include meticulous management of Building Safety Cases, ensuring the Golden Thread of Information is clearly identifiable, demonstrable and easily accessible.

As our Building Safety Manager, it’s a given that along with managing building safety, you will also manage and champion resident engagement across the Group’s portfolio of properties within the scope of legislation (such as the Building Safety Bill), ensuring the needs of our residents are met. You’ll ensure digital records are maintained in line with regulatory requirements, supporting the delivery of the Golden Thread and collaborate on supporting the development of training for colleagues and maintain your own professional competency through CPD and engagement with sector best practice.

You will have responsibility for our high-rise buildings within the scope of the Building Safety Act and special projects such as buildings requiring complex remediation. You will also have line management responsibility for the Assistant Building Safety Manager and will work with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, raising the profile of the Building Safety Team and awareness of its objectives and activities throughout the wider business.

What would make me stand out from the crowd?

To be successful as a Building Safety Manager, here at YHG, you will be

  • Confident working with multiple stakeholders in a building safety capacity
  • Able to act as a critical friend to the business, providing assurances to all internal and external stakeholders about the safety of our residents and buildings
  • Passionate about working and engaging with residents

That all sounds great, what’s in it for me?

In return we offer £55,000 - £65,000 for a 35-hour week, and 25 days annual leave (leave also increase with time served) plus Bank Holidays, but our employee offering provides much more than just a competitive salary and holiday allowance.

At #TeamYHG we measure performance on outputs and quality, not hours and minutes. We offer a flexible, homeworking culture where you’re trusted to get the job done.
