We are looking for a digitally savvy communications officer who thrives in a busy environment and has the confidence to work autonomously and proactively in a small team. Managing our social media channels will be an important part of the role; in addition to originating content and producing short-form video, you'll be familiar with Google Analytics and other evaluation tools and will be comfortable translating analytics into narrative.

You will have excellent writing skills with good attention to detail and a flair for photography. You will also be a great listener and be able to create interesting and moving stories about our dedicated teams and their patients and service-users. There will be plenty of material to work with our nurses, urgent community responders, rehabilitation therapists, health visitors and other clinical teams, saving and changing lives every day.

Being able to manage your time effectively will be crucial; you'll be juggling various projects at any given time and will need to know what can wait and what needs to be prioritised. If this sounds like a role which plays to your strengths, we'd like to hear from you. Please note the applications for this role will NOT be assessed using AI. Candidates are encouraged to submit original, targeted and evidence-based applications.

Main duties of the job:
  • Creating content, managing and evaluating social media outputs
  • Creating content for the website and recognising appropriate news stories to share externally
  • Celebrating the work of colleagues internally via the staff bulletin, intranet and direct communication channels
  • Using Canva and similar design tools to create communications materials
  • Managing the communications area on the staff intranet along with the news carousel
  • Drafting internal messaging for all-staff communications
  • Advising colleagues on appropriate language for patient information
  • Deputising for the marketing and communications lead where appropriate

This is a full-time post and is for 37.5 hours per week. The usual working hours are 9-5 and will be Monday to Friday. You will be mostly based at Hollyfield House in Surbiton although you will also need to be able to travel to our other sites as needed, Surbiton Health Centre and Teddington Memorial Hospital. You will need to attend a limited number of events locally also. We encourage you to discuss your flexibility needs with us before applying or during the interview process. While we may not be able to meet every request exactly, we promise to fully consider your needs and accommodate them where possible. Please note that flexible working options will vary depending on the role.

Please be aware that the closing date may be brought forward in the event of a high number of applications.
