We are looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to join our clients operations team to oversee the Fleet operations across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the inbound and outbound movement of goods across the UK and Ireland, managing a mixed fleet of articulated units, trailers, and rigid lorries. The role requires a strong understanding of transport regulations, customs processes, and a commitment to operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day transport operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies.
- Plan and schedule deliveries efficiently, optimising routes and load planning.
- Maintain accurate records and manage documentation related to shipping, customs, and fleet management.
- Liaise with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
- Utilise IT systems to monitor performance metrics and improve operational efficiency.
- Regularly assess and refine transport processes, implementing improvements where necessary.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest standards and compliant with safety regulations.
- Schedule 6-weekly and 8-weekly safety checks, routine maintenance, and MOT/PSV appointments.
- Download and analyse tachograph (Digicard) data to ensure compliance with driver hours and other regulations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a similar transport management role.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Customs clearance and shipping documentation experience essential due to UK/Ireland operational scope.
- A valid driving licence is advantageous but not essential; flexibility to drive occasionally is preferred.
