Nursery Cook: £13.50 per hour, 9am-4pm, 5 days per week, can be flexible, all year round
The Nursery Cook is responsible for providing healthy and nutritious meals for children, promoting the values of the nursery through food, and engaging children in menu selections that explore various cultures and incorporate their voices.
This role requires a high level of organisation, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment while meeting the dietary needs of all children in the nursery, to include allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleanliness and Hygiene
- Maintain the highest cleaning standards, following all food hygiene guidelines.
- Kitchen Surfaces: Regularly sanitize counters, stoves, sinks, and fridges, especially after spills.
- Equipment: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment (knives, blenders, mixers) regularly.
- Waste Disposal: Empty bins frequently and ensure waste is stored in sealed bags to prevent contamination.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety regulations in Wales, including Food Standards
Agency (FSA) and Environmental Health requirements.HACCP: Implement Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) to manage food safetyrisks.
Personal hygiene: use a separate sink for handwashing, wear appropriate clothing and PPE when preparing, cooking and serving food. Wounds must be covered.
