The Dog and Fox is on the hunt for an Assistant Manager — someone who can keep the drinks flowing, the team motivated, the customers happy, and occasionally find the missing bottle opener. We're looking for a hospitality all-rounder with personality, confidence, and the ability to smile through a Saturday night rush while someone asks if the kitchen is still serving at 9:59pm.
The role also includes supporting the day-to-day running of our hotel rooms, making this a brilliant opportunity for someone wanting to add another string to their bow and gain experience across multiple areas of hospitality. If you love pubs, people, organised chaos, and the occasional free chip theft from the pass, you might fit right in!
The Dog & Fox is an iconic pub with rooms in the heart of Wimbledon Village. We are an established events venue, pub, dining serving a premium collection of draught & craft beers, local London spirits and fine wines. We offer the best in seasonal, fresh, British produce for our menu and have 25 exquisite bedrooms. Just a 10-minute walk from Wimbledon train station and on several bus routes we are easy to reach and busy all year long. With Wimbledon Tennis Championships in the summer and Christmas functions throughout the winter there is never a boring moment at the Dog & Fox Hotel!
As Assistant Manager, you'll work closely with the management team to help keep The Dog and Fox running smoothly. That means:
- Leading shifts and supporting the team
- Keeping standards high across the bar, restaurant, and events
- Delivering excellent customer service — even when Table 12 says they ordered 'ages ago'
- Helping train and motivate staff
- Handling customer queries, complaints, and questionable dance moves professionally
- Supporting stock control, ordering, and cash handling
- Jumping in wherever needed during busy services
- Helping create a fun, positive atmosphere for both staff and customers
- Making sure the venue stays safe, compliant, and running efficiently
What We're Looking For:
- Previous management or supervisory experience in hospitality
- Someone who leads from the front and isn't afraid to get stuck in
- Great communication and people skills
- A cool head under pressure
- Passion for hospitality, food, drinks, and creating a great atmosphere
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
- Personal licence holder preferred, but not essential
- Ability to carry three plates at once is admired but not mandatory
What You'll Get:
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Team discounts
- Opportunities to progress and develop
- A genuinely supportive team environment
- A workplace where no two days are ever the same
- Probably at least one nickname by the end of your first week
