Service:

Established in May 2021, Young UK Today is dedicated to empowering vulnerable children and young people in Supported Accommodation. Our first established home, Dove Tree House, is committed to providing unwavering support to children and young people aged 8-17, offering a stable and loving environment.

Job Purpose:

The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in leading and managing the children’s home, ensuring high-quality care is delivered according to the home’s statement of purpose.

General Duties:

  • Lead shifts and oversee staff management and supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the staff team to develop constructive working relationships within the community.
  • Provide individualised positive care and care planning tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Act as a positive role model and provide effective supervision for the team.
  • Support the Registered Manager in delivering and maintaining a high-quality service.
  • Ensure recording is completed to a high standard in all areas.
  • Work with multi-agency partners and ensure professional collaboration.

Specific Duties:

  • Ensure residential workers meet the needs of children in accordance with their care plans.
  • Oversee safeguarding children and support the team to reduce risks.
  • Ensure children access services that meet their educational and emotional needs.
  • Plan and deliver the service to meet the needs of children.
  • Monitor children’s progress and guide the team to ensure service delivery.
  • Ensure health, safety, and fire precautions are followed.

Person Specification:

Qualifications and Education:

  • Level 3 / 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People.
  • Willingness to attain a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People.

Experience:

A minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory role within a children’s residential setting.

Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Sound working knowledge of statutory requirements related to children’s residential care.
  • Understanding of children’s rights, safeguarding, and the impact of abuse and neglect.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to motivate, direct, and delegate in a residential setting.
  • Organisational skills and financial management abilities.
