The Role
You’ll use your relevant knowledge and experience to deliver bespoke 1:1 sessions to our learners with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH. Sessions will always take place during the day, according to fixed timetables, either in a learner’s home or local community venue.
Responsibilities
- Use creative, engaging approaches tailored to each learner’s interests, with the purpose of supporting them to re‑engage with education and consider their futures.
- Build positive relationships and foster confidence in our learners.
- Teach Maths and/or English for KS3 / KS4 / KS5, plus additional subjects based on your specialism (if you are a tutor).
- Deliver ASDAN Life skills programmes to support the development of confidence and independence in our learners (if you are a mentor).
Qualifications and Experience
- Tutors must have a Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent qualification.
- Mentors must have a Level 2 qualification OR an equivalent youth work qualification OR very strong professional youth work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching or mentoring SEN learners.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and a willingness to complete any mandatory training necessary in this area.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to obtain).
- Ability to travel to learner locations.
- Dedication to making a long‑term difference in our learners’ lives.
