About Young Giants

Young Giants is a specialist AP tuition service, operating in term-time. We believe that every child, if given the right support, can thrive academically and reach their full potential. Our service is run by qualified teachers, who manage and maintain the high quality of every learner's development programme. Our tutors and mentors are at the heart of the operation, delivering these programmes straight to learners. We work hard to create a supportive and collaborative working environment for our staff, which has led to exceptionally high retention rates.

The Role

You'll use your relevant knowledge and experience to deliver bespoke 1:1 sessions to our learners with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH. Sessions will always take place during the day, according to fixed timetables, either in a learner's home or local community venue. More specifically, you will:

  • Use creative, engaging approaches tailored to each learner's interests, with the purpose of supporting them to re‑engage with education and consider their futures.
  • Build positive relationships and foster confidence in our learners.

If you are a tutor, you will also:

  • Teach Maths and English for KS1 / KS2, plus additional subjects based on your specialism.

If you are a mentor, you will also:

  • Deliver ASDAN Life skills programmes to support the development of confidence and independence in our learners.

About You

We're looking for passionate tutors and mentors with the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Tutors must have a Bachelor's degree OR an equivalent qualification.
  • Mentors must have a Level 2 qualification OR an equivalent youth work qualification OR very strong professional youth work experience.
  • Both tutors and mentors must have:
    • At least 2 years of experience teaching or mentoring SEN learners.
    • Strong understanding of safeguarding and a willingness to complete any mandatory training necessary in this area.
    • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to obtain).
    • Ability to travel to learner locations.
    • Dedication to making a long-term difference in our learners' lives.
    • Compassion, patience and resilience.

What We Offer

A rewarding role where your work will make a real difference to lives of children, young people and their families.
