About Green Lane
We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a brand‑new staff team at a 2‑bed residential children’s home in Leigh. The home specialises in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Difficulties (LD). Led by a highly experienced Registered Manager, this is a unique chance to play a key role in shaping a new service from the ground up.
As Senior Residential Support Worker, you will support the day‑to‑day running of the home, provide guidance and supervision to the residential support workers, and help create a safe, nurturing and consistent environment where children feel secure and valued. We are looking for a confident, compassionate professional with experience in residential childcare who can lead by example, promote positive outcomes for children, and maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and practice in line with regulatory requirements.

Role Requirements
- NVQ Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare / Working with Young People (or equivalent qualification).
- Proven experience working within a Residential Children’s Home.
- Experience undertaking a senior or lead practitioner role, supporting staff and daily house operations.
- Able to demonstrate advanced practice skills when supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding practice, child protection procedures and statutory responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of trauma‑informed and therapeutic models of care.
As a Senior Residential Practitioner, you will:
- Support the Deputy Registered Manager and Registered Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care and practice are maintained.
- Act as a positive role model for staff and young people, demonstrating professionalism, consistency and appropriate boundaries at all times.
- Assist with the coordination of staff rotas and deployment to ensure the individual needs of young people are met.
- Provide shift leadership and act as the senior person on duty, including taking charge in the absence of senior management when required.
- Promote a nurturing, child‑centred approach that reflects therapeutic and trauma‑informed care principles.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and support their emotional, behavioural, social and developmental needs.
- Support the implementation, monitoring and review of care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.
- Work in partnership with families, social workers, education, health professionals and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for young people.
