What does a Casual Residential Support Worker do? No two days are ever the same. One morning you might be supporting a young person to prepare breakfast independently for the very first time. Later that day, you could be encouraging someone to take part in a favourite activity, helping them build confidence in social situations or celebrating a personal achievement they’ve worked incredibly hard to reach. You’ll play an important part in creating a safe, caring and encouraging home environment where young people feel valued, respected and supported.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting young people with daily living skills and encouraging independence.
- Providing personal care where required, always with dignity, respect and compassion.
- Building positive relationships that help young people feel safe and confident.
- Encouraging participation in education, hobbies, recreation and community activities.
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals and families.
- Recording important information and contributing to care plans.
