Registered Manager – Children’s Home (Solo Placements) Harlow, Essex £50,000 - £60,000

If you’re a Registered Manager (or an ambitious Deputy) who feels ready for a new challenge beyond the standard children’s home model, this could be the role that reignites your passion for the sector. Young Crisis Hub is growing and we’re doing things differently. We specialise in solo placements for young people with complex needs, often subject to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). These are not traditional 3–5 bed homes. This is about highly individualised care and creating safe, calm environments where young people can genuinely stabilise and move forward.

A little about us: Historically, we operated a short term, 30 day emergency placement model. We’re now working closely with Local Authorities to regulate our existing provisions and register a number of new children’s homes. This is an exciting time to join, you’ll have real influence, autonomy, and the chance to help shape services from the ground up.

The Role: As a Registered Manager, you’ll lead a solo placement designed around one young person, their risks, needs, routines, and outcomes. You’ll work closely with Local Authorities, therapists, and internal leadership to deliver safe, creative, and compliant care. Depending on your experience and preference, you may take over an existing home transitioning to regulation or lead the registration and development of a brand-new provision. Due to current Ofsted processes, you may be required to accept a placement prior to registration being granted. We’re open about this and will support you closely throughout the process.

Why This Role Is Different: This role moves you away from managing multiple placements and constant competing priorities. Instead, your focus is on one young person, one carefully built team, and one clear care plan. You’ll have the space to be creative, reflective, and purposeful in your leadership, shaping a culture that genuinely supports stability, safety, and progress. For many managers, this feels like a return to why they joined the sector in the first place.

Who This Role Is For: You might already be a Registered Manager looking for something that feels more meaningful and less formulaic, or a strong Deputy Manager ready to step up with the right level of support behind you. You’ll need a solid understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted expectations, confidence working with complex and high risk presentations, and the resilience to lead calmly in challenging situations. A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or a willingness to work towards it) is important, but equally important is curiosity, emotional intelligence, and a hands-on leadership style.

What You’ll Get: In return, you’ll be trusted to lead, not micromanaged. You’ll have real autonomy to shape your service, backed by supportive senior leadership who understand the realities of frontline management. You’ll be joining at a point of growth, with genuine long term progression opportunities, and a competitive salary that reflects your experience and responsibility.

Interested? If you’re curious and want to explore whether this could be your next step, let’s talk. I’m Jade, YCH's internal recruiter, so you’ll be dealing with me directly, no agency in the middle. I can walk you through the opportunities we have, answer your questions, and help you explore if this is the right fit for you.
