Reporting to the Recruitment Manager, this role is part of the People Team at Young's, responsible for sourcing and developing future General Managers, supporting Head Chef recruitment, and providing recruitment and succession support across the business.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for General Manager recruitment – liaise with Ops Managers and Ops Directors to advertise vacancies, screen CVs, and interview candidates as required.
- Recruit future General Managers – identify and engage candidates who can develop from Deputy Manager to GM over 6‑12 months.
- Collaborate with the Management Development Trainer on succession planning, meeting current GMs-in-training, and matching individuals to suitable business units.
- Discuss potential sites with the Recruitment Manager and Management Development Trainer.
- Attend GM Succession meetings with the Recruitment Manager, ODS, COO, and People Director as needed.
- Create advertising content for key vacancies and promote opportunities on LinkedIn and similar platforms.
- Conduct proactive headhunting – build an external network of future Young's GMs, contact and meet with them for future opportunities.
- Head Chef recruitment support – liaise with OMS and GMs to write and post Head Chef job adverts for pubs, ensuring alignment with each business’s food vision and maximizing exposure and application quality. Screening and interviewing are handled by GMs and the Food Team.
- Work with the Food Team to promote the Head Chef Designate Programme externally—a longer induction that prepares experienced Senior Sous Chefs for first-appointment Head Chef roles.
- Coach General Managers on recruitment best practices and run quarterly recruitment workshops to maximise tool utilisation.
- Attend Area Operations meetings to promote best practice and support succession planning.
- Attend Divisional meetings to assist with succession planning.
- Assist in recruiting for Copper House roles as required, working with the relevant hiring manager in each department.
- Provide Harri System support and manage FAQs for the Recruitment inbox.
- Support Recruitment and Succession by undertaking any other duties deemed reasonable and within the scope of the job as the role expands.
Qualifications
- Experience recruiting at a similar level within hospitality.
- A people-oriented communicator capable of coaching and challenging teams.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, proactively, and independently with efficient diary management.
- Capability to build relationships across all business levels—from GMs to Operations Managers and Directors.
- Creative thinking and a proactive approach to improving recruitment strategies and processes.
