We’re looking for a Management Development Trainer to coach and inspire the next generation of General Managers within Young’s. You’ll be hosting 121 coaching sessions with our rising stars, running development courses, and ensuring that our Internal General Manager Designates are set up for success.

At Young’s, we are passionate about developing our people, and we have an exciting opportunity to be part of the team that continues to drive this forward - over 60% of our General Manager appointments are internal. The ideal Management Development Trainer will need to be able to walk into any of our businesses and inspire our people to grow & develop. This is a varied role, and you’ll be part of the best People Team in hospitality. The role is field-based and although the majority of our pubs are in London & the home counties, the role will require travel as far as Bristol, Devon, Norfolk, Cheltenham, Kent and everywhere in between, as well as our Wandsworth office. Company Car/Travel Expenses will be provided.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with Operations Managers, General Managers and the rest of the training team to ensure that a structured development process is in place for those earmarked as having GM potential.
  • Lead 121 sessions with future General Managers, reviewing project work, holiday holds and coaching them on soft skills and a management mindset.
  • Run our Introduction to Leadership course, which covers what leadership is, and how to improve your leadership skills.
  • Look after our “Ready to hold” process – ensuring that Assistant or Deputy Managers that are going into a short hold of a business are set up for success and have the requisite knowledge to protect the business.
  • Be a key part of succession planning – highlighting standout managers who will be ready for the next step.
  • Support the training team to undertake any other duties deemed reasonable and within the scope of the job as the role grows.

Skills Required

  • Experience at coaching and developing general managers of the future within a hospitality setting.
  • A true people person and excellent communicator.
  • Great project management skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, pro-active and organised in managing your own diary.
  • Ability to build strong relationships within the business.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
