Experienced in residential childcare and looking for a stable waking night role within a structured, therapeutic environment? Young Care Hub is opening a new therapeutic children's residential home in Hemel Hempstead, supporting up to three children aged 7-17 years old with diagnosed learning disabilities and/or emotional and behavioural difficulties.

We are seeking a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to support the safety, wellbeing and emotional needs of children overnight, contributing to consistent care and safeguarding within the home. This role requires confidence, reliability and a clear understanding of residential care standards.

The Role

As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you will:

  • Support the home during overnight hours
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children throughout the night
  • Respond appropriately to incidents or concerns
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
  • Support the implementation of care plans and behaviour strategies
  • Contribute to consistent 24-hour care planning

You will work under the guidance of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager and contribute to maintaining a safe and stable home environment.

Working Pattern & Benefits

Our rota operates across a 24-hour period on condensed shifts. With approximately 10-11 working days per month, you benefit from extended periods off between shifts and a predictable working pattern. You will receive:

  • £25,350 base salary + £65 per sleep-in
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave
  • Additional paid day off for your birthday

Essential Criteria

  • Have the right to work in the UK (unfortunately we do not offer sponsorship)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within the past 5 years in residential childcare
  • Desire to work nights
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child development
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic IT competency for documentation and reporting

Preferred:

  • Full UK driving licence with clean record
