Join Go-Forward Youth, a growing, care-leaver-led charity supporting young people transitioning from care to independence. We reduce isolation and improve outcomes by offering a place to turn during crisis, celebration or everyday life, and by helping young adults develop independent living skills.

We’re looking for a Youth Worker to join our team at The HUB—our safe, welcoming space for care-experienced young people. If you\’re empathetic, patient and passionate about helping young people thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll also bring project management experience, confidence working with partners, and strong knowledge of policies to ensure our space remains safe and supportive.

Purpose of the Role

To support the delivery of high-quality, inclusive youth work sessions that empower young people aged 18–25 to develop confidence, skills, and positive relationships. This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, with the flexibility to work on a sessional basis.

Knowledge

Must possess knowledge and understanding of legislative framework and policies relating to children’s services; including, safeguarding, child protection and criminal justice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with groups of young people and individuals within project boundaries.
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Make timely and appropriate referrals to external services where needed.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding personal and sensitive information, in line with data protection policies.
  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of youth work sessions, including creative, recreational, and issue-based activities.
  • Promote young people’s participation, voice, and leadership in shaping services.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and uphold safeguarding procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and partner agencies.
  • Record attendance, incidents, and outcomes in line with organisational policies.
  • Attend team meetings, training, and supervision as required.
  • Experience working with young people in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Ability to engage and motivate young people in group settings.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with various stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Youth work qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Youth Work Practice).
  • Knowledge of local issues affecting young people.
  • Experience delivering targeted interventions (e.g. around mental health, employability, or identity).
  • IT competence including MS Office.

Contract: Sessional, part-time, flexible hours (evenings and occasional weekends)

Salary: Up to £20.00 per hour, depending on experience
