Reporting to the Group Tax Manager / Group Tax Director, this role will play a key part in strengthening the in-house tax function, with responsibility for tax accounting, compliance, and international tax matters across the Group. The role will support the transition towards a more centralized and internally managed tax model, reducing reliance on external advisors and driving consistency, control, and efficiency across global tax processes.

Responsibilities

  • Tax Accounting & Reporting: Detailed review and reconciliation of current and deferred tax balances on a monthly basis, including investigation and resolution of variances. Preparation and posting of monthly tax journals (current and deferred tax). Ownership and review of tax reporting processes, including alignment with IFRS (IAS 12). Monthly calculation of deferred tax adjustments, including on intangibles, losses, and temporary differences. Support return-to-provision processes and ensure consistency between tax and financial reporting. Work closely with finance teams to ensure accurate tax accounting treatment across entities.
  • Tax Compliance & Regulatory: Oversee and manage corporate tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate filings. Manage and maintain the tax compliance calendar/tracker. Review outputs from external advisors and ensure accuracy and completeness of filings. Ensure timely tax payments in line with regulatory deadlines. Act as a key point of contact for tax authorities (including HMRC).
  • International Tax & Technical: Support and manage international tax matters, including: Transfer pricing compliance and documentation; Withholding tax management (applications, exemptions, refunds); Cross-border tax considerations and structuring support. Exposure to and/or involvement in: DAC6, CRS, CFC rules BEPS / Pillar 2 developments. Liaise with regional teams and external advisors to ensure alignment on global tax positions.
  • Half Year & Year-End Reporting: Support the preparation and review of Group tax reporting and disclosures for statutory accounts. Review group tax models and validate year-end current and deferred tax positions. Provide tax journals and reporting packs to Group Accounting. Support internal and external audits, including managing tax-related queries.
  • Transfer Pricing: Support the quarterly update of transfer pricing models. Ensure accurate intercompany invoicing in line with TP policies. Assist in strengthening transfer pricing frameworks and documentation.
  • Process Improvement & Transformation: Drive process improvements and standardisation across tax accounting and compliance. Support automation and integration of tax and accounting processes (e.g., monthly tax booking and reconciliation). Contribute to the internalisation of tax knowledge and models, reducing reliance on external advisors.
  • Other: Document and maintain tax processes and controls. Support on ad hoc tax projects, structuring, and business initiatives.

What do I need to bring with me? Demonstrated Knowledge & Experience. ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualified – Top 20 / Big 4 background preferred. 8–10 years of progressive tax experience, ideally with a mix of practice and in-house. Strong experience in: Corporate tax and tax reporting; Deferred tax (IAS 12); Tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Exposure to: Transfer pricing and international tax; Regulatory frameworks (DAC6, CFC, CRS, Pillar 2). Experience working in a multinational / global organisation; Experience in fast-paced or high-growth environments preferred.

Technical & Systems Skills: Experience with tax and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, OneStream, AlphaTax). Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, etc.).

Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; Effective stakeholder management across global teams; Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to operate independently in a lean environment.
