Role: Field Service Engineer
Location: Huntingdon
Hours: Full time, shift pattern 5 days per week (Tuesday to Saturday, 08:30 – 17:30)
Salary: £32,000 per year plus Company Van
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and setup of Wi‑Fi networks, including routers, extenders and related equipment.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of Wi‑Fi connectivity and performance issues.
- Network optimization for performance, including channel selection, signal strength adjustments, and interference management.
- Customer support: provide excellent customer service and explain technical information clearly.
- Site surveys to assess signal coverage, identify interference sources, and recommend solutions.
- Routine maintenance and firmware updates on Wi‑Fi equipment to ensure security and performance.
- Product delivery and installation, with upsell of services where appropriate.
- Run Cat 6 Ethernet cabling for router relocations or hard-wiring customer devices.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Technical expertise in Wi‑Fi technology, standards (e.g., 802.11ac/802.11ax), encryption and networking principles.
- Experience as a Wi‑Fi technician or similar role with hands-on installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Strong customer service and communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.
- Analytical problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve issues.
- Technical certifications or training in networking or telecommunications are preferred.
- Knowledge of Ethernet cable colour codes and ability to make cables on request at customer properties.
