We're looking for a Senior User Researcher with strong quantitative skills to join our centralised research team in Product Design & Research. You'll focus on our Monetisation and Content clusters, where your work will shape the buying experience, the first 30 days after purchase, Yoto Club and how families discover content in our card store. You'll combine interviews, usability testing and diary studies with survey and behavioural data, taking each study from defining the methods to running the analysis and making sure the insights land with stakeholders.
About Yoto: Yoto is a screen-free interactive audio platform for kids. We make carefully connected audio players that kids control, with no microphones, cameras or ads. We have a catalogue of audio that inspires creative play and learning with 1,000+ titles in our card store from top creators, publishers and labels - think Disney, Marvel, Roald Dahl and Universal Music. Voted the 14th fastest-growing private software technology company in Britain in The Sunday Times 100 Tech 2025; and ranked second fastest growing tech company in the UK in the Deloitte Fast50. We're on a mission to be the soundtrack of childhood, and help families on their own unique adventures.
Yoto's Product Design & Research Team exists to deeply understand children and families and translate those insights into thoughtful, trusted, screen-free experiences across hardware, software, and content. Research at Yoto is already fairly democratised, with designers actively involved in learning from customers, and we're building a stronger, more credible research practice as we grow. You'll be part of our centralised research team, alongside our Lead User Researcher and Research Operations partner, and you'll report to our Lead User Researcher.
Your main focus is the Monetisation and Content clusters: our core e-commerce experience, Yoto Club and subscriptions, and the way families find content.
- Focus on research for the Monetisation and Content clusters. You'll work with their design and product leads to agree what we need to learn and in what order.
- Study the buying experience from the family's side: how people find, choose and buy players, cards, bundles and digital content, how checkout, delivery and order updates feel, and what happens in the first 30 days after purchase.
- Research how families find the right content for a child: browsing and filters, age guidance, recommendations and upsell moments, and what gives a parent the confidence to buy more.
- Design and run a range of studies, from interviews, concept and usability testing to diary studies and surveys. Use quantitative methods when they're the right fit, and run the analysis yourself (for example correlation, regression or driver analysis).
- Work with the data team on experience measures and A/B tests, and present what you find to designers, product managers and senior leaders.
- Expand the reach of research by supporting others to do it: help designers and product managers plan and run good research themselves, and brief and work closely with agencies for outsourced work.
What you'll bring:
- Significant experience researching digital or hardware products with a product team, and evidence that your research changed what was designed or built.
- You've studied how people actually behave with a product (usability testing, interviews, diary studies), not only what they think of a brand or a price.
- You design surveys, choose scales and sample sizes, and run correlation, regression and driver analysis yourself in a statistical package (for example R, SPSS or Python), with sound judgement about their limits (self-report, response bias, small samples, correlation versus causation).
- Comfort working with behavioural data, including reading funnels, cohorts and experiment results, and joining them to survey responses.
- Experience researching products for children, families or education.
- Experience researching across the subscription lifecycle (acquisition, onboarding and retention) or willingness-to-pay.
Salary: 70,000 - 80,000 based on experience.
