We’re looking for a People Assistant to support the People team across core operations, employee experience, and data. This role offers hands‑on experience across the full employee lifecycle and is a great opportunity to gain a truly generalist foundation in a high‑performing People function. It is ideal for someone with a keen interest in a career in People, who is highly organised, detail‑oriented, tech‑savvy, and with a proactive, positive, "get stuck in" approach.

Yoto’s People team is not like a traditional HR function. We are a small but mighty team, made up of a People Director, a Head of People, a Talent Acquisition Manager and the Executive Team’s EAPA. This role will report to the Head of People. We are a team that sets high standards, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The Yoto People Team attracts, enables, and retains exceptional talent through a high‑performing, inclusive, and values‑driven culture. Our lean, high‑impact structure ensures strategic alignment at the top, strong business partnering at all levels, and operational excellence across the employee lifecycle. We deliver scalable, people‑first solutions that enable Yoto’s growth, strengthen leadership capability, and build an environment where every team member can do their best work.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support delivery of the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, changes, exits, and compliance documentation.
  • Own and continuously improve the onboarding experience, including coordination of the first week, buddy allocation, and new starter support.
  • Maintain and continuously improve our People systems (Personio and CultureAmp), ensuring high levels of data accuracy and integrity.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to use tools (including AI where appropriate) to simplify processes, reduce manual work, and improve the employee experience.
  • Provide data for reporting and insights for dashboards, audits, and board packs.
  • Support internal communications and maintain our Notion pages (employee handbook, policies, guidance, updates).
  • Cultural ambassador – supporting the Ministry of Fun (social team) with internal events and socials, and being the go‑to person for new starters.
  • Support benefits administration (enrolment, renewals, queries).
  • In partnership with the EA, support the smooth running of the office (supplies, gifts, logistics).
  • Contribute to wider People team initiatives and projects – lots of opportunity to get hands‑on involvement in People initiatives and projects.
  • Champion Yoto’s vision, mission, and values, ensuring they are reflected in the employee experience.

What you’ll bring:

  • Genuine interest and enthusiasm in building a career in People.
  • Obsessively organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • Early career experience in a professional environment.
  • Approachable, positive, and confident, building relationships across the business – this role will be a “go‑to” person for the business, so you must be happy being present in the office (minimum once a week, but we want someone who is flexible with this, with notice of course) and getting stuck‑in.
  • Adaptable – happy to spin plates and do a bit of juggling at the same time!
  • Bright and ideas‑driven – we are constantly looking to improve and welcome ideas.
  • Emotionally intelligent, with sound judgement and discretion.
  • Self‑starter who is happy to take the initiative.
  • Comfortable handling confidential information.
  • Interest in systems, data, or process improvement.
  • Curious about how tools (including AI) can improve ways of working.
  • Experience using Personio and/or Culture Amp is highly desirable, but not essential.

We do not require a degree – the above skills and a passion to learn are far more important to us.

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000, dependent on the candidate and what you will bring to our team!

What you can expect from Yoto:

  • Flexibility: Hybrid working – expectation of 1 day a week in our London office, but you are welcome to come in more than this.
  • Take advantage of our “work from anywhere” policy to work from a different location for up to 6 weeks every year.
  • Summer Hours policy to use between the months of June and August.
  • Receive Income Protection, covering long‑term sickness for up to 2 years and company sick pay that increases with length of service.
  • Life Assurance cover from day one of your service.
  • Workplace Pension offering up to 3% employer contributions, following probation.
  • Generous employee referral bonus scheme.
  • Private Medical Insurance via Aviva, or a Wellbeing Allowance to be used for memberships, subscriptions, treatment or therapy.
  • Access to 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) through WeCare and unlimited access to Dental advice and guidance via Toothfairy.
  • Bike To Work scheme to promote healthier lifestyles.
  • 25 days of holiday per year, plus bank holidays.
  • On top of this, you also receive your birthday off, plus 1 extra day of holiday for every year worked after you hit your 2 year anniversary, up to 5 extra days.
  • After 4 years of service, you are also eligible for our sabbatical policy offering up to 3 months’ of unpaid sabbatical.
  • Variety of family‑friendly leave, including enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, fertility, pregnancy loss and carers leave.
  • Up to 2 volunteer days a year.
  • A Book Allowance of up to £50 a year to contribute to your professional development.
  • You receive your very own Yoto player and starter pack of cards!
  • Regular company socials and celebrations, including our annual YotoFest!

At Yoto, we love creating a world where childhood is rich with discovery and joy. We’re also passionate about building a workplace where everyone can thrive – both professionally and personally. We value flexibility and give our team the freedom to balance life and work in ways that suit them. We’re committed to fostering a safe, diverse, and inclusive environment where all individuals, regardless of their background, feel valued and supported.
