As a Fix-It (Our name for maintenance) Engineer in YOTEL Glasgow, your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel's physical infrastructure, including building systems, equipment, and facilities. You will play a crucial role in providing a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff. Your expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems will be essential in diagnosing and resolving maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance: Carry out preventive maintenance programs to ensure the optimal functioning of the hotel's equipment and systems. Perform regular inspections, testing, and servicing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, following established schedules. Identify and address potential issues before they lead to system failures or disruptions. Conduct periodic calibration and performance checks on key equipment to maintain efficiency. Maintain and update room Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules, ensuring all guest rooms are inspected and serviced at regular intervals.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, staff, or other departments. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, such as HVAC problems, lighting malfunctions, plumbing leaks, and equipment breakdowns. Coordinate with external vendors or contractors when necessary for specialized repairs or installations. Ensure prompt resolution of emergency maintenance issues to minimize downtime and inconvenience.
- Guest Room Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, identifying and addressing maintenance needs, including furniture, fixtures, and appliances. Perform routine checks on room amenities, such as door locks, air conditioning units, electrical outlets, and plumbing fixtures, to ensure they are in proper working condition. Ensure that all guest rooms are in excellent condition and meet the hotel's quality standards. Coordinate with the housekeeping department to prioritize and address maintenance requests from guests. Document completed room PPM tasks and follow up on any outstanding maintenance issues.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to relevant health and safety regulations and protocols. Monitor and maintain fire safety systems, emergency lighting, smoke detectors, and other safety equipment. Regularly check the hotel's facilities to identify potential hazards or safety concerns and take appropriate action to mitigate risks. Ensure all chemicals, tools, and equipment are stored and used in compliance with safety regulations. Participate in health and safety training and emergency drills to prepare for potential incidents. Assist in risk assessments and safety audits, implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Recordkeeping and Documentation: Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks. Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance work. Generate reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and recommendations for improvements or replacements. Ensure compliance with maintenance documentation requirements, including PPM logs, safety inspection reports, and repair records.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or trade qualifications are acceptable.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with fire safety regulations, health and safety standards, and other relevant compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
