The Opportunity
Avantor is seeking a proactive and self-driven Innovation Support Specialist to support customer sites across the UK. In this role, you\’ll lead the deployment of digital tools and IoT technologies, support innovation trials, train onsite teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to build and present business cases for new solutions. Your efforts will drive operational readiness and digital transformation within our Life Sciences customer base.
This is a full-time, field-based position with up to 80% travel to customer locations, primarily in Cambridge, Macclesfield, and others, with occasional overnight stays. The successful candidate must be based in the UK. Future travel across Europe may be possible.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, with core hours.
The Team
You will be part of a small, agile Innovation Team, working closely with an Innovation Project Manager, site managers, and the Smart Lab Manager Product Manager to deliver impactful, tech-enabled solutions that enhance lab operations and customer experience. You will support major pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide in R&D within the Life Sciences industry.
What We\’re Looking For
- GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualification; A-levels, vocational certifications, or a degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or IT are desirable.
- Proven experience in project coordination or management, preferably within a scientific, technical, or innovation-focused environment.
- Strong background in digital tools, IoT technologies, and data-driven solutions, with troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence in presenting and collaborating across organizational levels.
- Ability to lead innovation trials, build and present business cases, and support budget applications.
- Understanding of change management and experience supporting operational transitions and technology rollouts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other digital platforms.

- Deploy, calibrate, and troubleshoot IoT devices and digital tools at customer sites.
- Support and coordinate innovation trials, including planning, execution, reporting, and onsite training.
- Act as a liaison between customer sites, internal stakeholders, and the Smart Lab Manager.
- Build and present business cases for new technologies and support budget applications.
- Maintain logs, monitor device stability, and contribute to developing new digital functionalities.
- Share insights, propose ideas, and support continuous improvement and change management.
