Location: This role covers the Harrogate and Dales area and is based out of Thornton Steward Water Treatment Works. You will be required to live within a 45-minute travel distance of the site.
Work type: Permanent 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clean Water Field Technician to join the clean water distribution department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

Water Distribution are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The successful candidate would be covering the South West areas in part of a tight knit team. Working in this patch is unique to most as it is so rural and therefore brings its own challenges. Working both by yourself and in the team to deliver challenging performance commitments. The role will require you to problem solve and work under pressure liaising with other departments in Yorkshire Water to help resolve various issues that we face.
As our Field Technician you will:
- Safely carry out day to day activities on a 24/7 rota ensuring they are completed on time, to budget and to the required quality that enable the effective operation of the Yorkshire Water distribution network. This includes proactive network operation and maintenance activity; completion of operational risk assessments and the supervision of all network intervention; and responding quickly and effectively to network failure to minimise the impact upon key performance targets, including but not limited to those relating to Water Supply Interruptions and Water Quality.
- You will have customer facing responsibility for the delivery of front-line customer service, resolving customer queries through attending customer appointments, and driving resolution through a combination of problem solving, network optimisation and the promotion of R+M work where required.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience of delivering against challenging upper quartile business targets and performance commitments.
- Builds and always maintains effective internal and external relationships to high standard - acts as a role model.
- Ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
- A positive approach to handling changes, embracing all nature of change including technology, process, behavioural and organisational change.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- Excellent communication skills.
- IT literate.
- Team player who can work in many different teams showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
You will also benefit from having:
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
- Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
- Technical understanding of water network and assets.
